Pretty pictures and lovely wall art can spruce up a room and make it looks fabulous in no time. The problem is it can be expensive and hard to find something unique and interesting. I love words. I particularly love words on pictures on the wall that encourage us to think positive. My girls and I recently watched Cinderella together and her quote “Have Courage and Be Kind” has been something we speak about regularly.
I really wanted to continue to reinforce this theme with my daughters and son as I think it is a great message so we decided to make a picture together to hang on their wall.
Below is a little tutorial I put together so you can make it too if you like plus a printable with the design of the words you can print out at home for your own picture.
You Will Need:
– A clear working space
– 2 x Photo frames (we bought our from K-Mart for $8 each)
– 1 x Pair of Scotch® Scissors
– Scotch® Expressions Magic™ Tapes you can purchase from Officeworks and Big W in Australia and Warehouse Stationery in New Zealand
– Scotch® Expressions Washi Tapes you can purchase from Officeworks in Australia and Warehouse Stationery in New Zealand
– 1 x Free quote printable you can download here
Instructions to Make:
– Firstly you need to remove the packet from around the photo frame and take the centre glass and backing off.
– Once you have done this wipe it clean and make sure there is no dirt or dust on it.
– Place on the table with top facing up
– Select your desired Scotch Expressions tapes for decorating.
– Apply your first piece of tape along the inside edge of the frame as pictured above. You want to get full coverage on the white and it is best to do the fiddly bit first.
– Once you have done that continue to apply rows of tape in a colour pattern that you like making sure you leave enough to wrap around the sides to the back.
– Continue to apply tape until the whole of the frame is covered.
-If you are finding corners tricky you can cut diagonally into the corner and fold the tape.
– Once the photo frame is covered with tape turn it over.
– Trim each side of the excess tape and fold it over on the inside of the frame creating a nice even finish.
– Once you have finished taping the frame print out the “Have Courage and Be Kind” quote which you can download here
– Cut the printable to size and place inside the frame with the glass and backing.
– Hang on the wall and smile 🙂
