Our kids recently had the chance to road test the latest range of Beados and Qixels from Moose Toys. My youngest daughter had played with Beados before at her best friend’s house so knew what they were and was super keen to give them a proper go.
We put together a video review below telling you what we thought, showing you how the toys work and hearing from the kids what they thought about them. This was completely unscripted and our kids gave their honest thoughts after playing with them.
Since these toys have come into our house both my 8 year old and 5 year old daughters have been creating with them for days on end. The other great thing about the Beados is once you have made the design you can turn them into rings, key chains, bracelets and necklaces which the girls have loved wearing around the house and attaching to their school bags.
Beados are targeted more at girls and the Qixels are targeted more at boys however I just want to say that my girls have loved playing with both. There are not many craft activities on the market targeted at the boy demographic and Qixels have done a fantastic job of doing just that. Qixels are a unique and fantastic product that even my girls have had lots of fun creating with.
These toys are great for fine motor skill development that is particularly important for young children. These types of skills are essential for handwriting control and even typing. There are also benefits from copying patterns, planning and counting quantities and also in patience and concentration … all of which help children in many aspects of life. The best part is they are not messy and only require water to bond the beads together to create the end product.

My daughter will be making lots of bracelets and necklaces with Qixels.
We love our house but the views out the windows aren’t great. My daughter would make amazing window art.
My kids would make Quixel army people then play a noisy shooting game. Cause that’s what kids do!!!!

Our 6 y/o engineer of the future would design an entire “Qixelized” landscape and use his imagination to stage epic scenarios with warriors, animals, creatures and kingdoms. He may even let his little sister help.

Anything green and hulk looking would be created and blissfully balanced by my other child in the form of a colourful rainbow.
Libby likes to make animals and then give them to her friends as presents.
My daughter LOVES Minecraft so I’m sure she would be busy creating Minecraft characters and objects with her Qixels prize.
My animal crazy kids would make a farm house with chooks, pigs ,and ducklings.. qixels would keep them very entertained while they have a BLAST!
My boys would make warriors, weapons and superheroes (maybe some bad guys too). And then play with them endlessly!!!
These look like they have potential for making Minecraft type creations which my boys would love!

My 5 year old daughter would love these, she is very artsy crafty and loves making new things, I can just imagine all of her new creations around the house and replacing my jewellery.

My boy would love this! Both are dinosaur and minecraft mad. So not doubt there the will be a minecraft dinosaur world unfolding in front of my eyes.
My daughter at 9 absolutely loves sitting down for hours and creating all different sorts of things. I think they are great to let the kids imaginations run wild and let them create.

my son is totally obessed with minecraft I think Quixel things look like minecraft characters , my son would love to make these and then play a minecraft type of game OFF of the computer , super awesome !!! 🙂

My son was enamored by the retro 8-bit style of Qixels and decided to go with a Space Invader inspired alien. Slime green in colour, four googly eyes and octopus-like wiggly limbs.
Ahhh, with 2 kiddies from the bush, I just know our Young Miss would make a beautiful horse, and our Big Jack would make himself some fishies like he catches from the dam
My kids would get stuck into making decorations for the Christmas tree! I can’t help but agree with them that our tree would benefit a great deal from their creativity.
