I see most of the kids movies that come out these days due to having children and running the School Mum website as we are often invited to check out different movies so we can let y’all know what we think.
We went along to the the Storks movie today and I have to say it was a highlight kids movie for me this year. Apart from there being super cute babies in the film … and who doesn’t love super cute babies … it had a really great story line. I took my 6 year old daughter along with me on a mummy / daughter date and she LOVED it. Miss 6 normally gets quite bored in movies and often asks when it is going to end by about the 1 hour mark but she never asked me once when this movie was going to end. In fact I was not even wondering when it was going to end and that is saying something lol.
This is a little summary of what the movie is about …
Storks deliver babies…or at least they used to. Now they deliver packages for global internet giant Cornerstore.com. Junior, the company’s top delivery stork, is about to be promoted when he accidentally activates the Baby Making Machine, producing an adorable and wholly unauthorized baby girl. Desperate to deliver this bundle of trouble before the boss gets wise, Junior and his friend Tulip, the only human on Stork Mountain, race to make their first-ever baby drop – in a wild and revealing journey that could make more than one family whole and restore the storks’ true mission in the world.
The story line is engaging for the whole movie and it is a real feel good story for everyone (no death and a sadness in this film like there can be in other kid’s films). I will note that there are wolves in the movie which appear to be a bit scary for a very short amount of time but then they end up being quite silly and funny. My eldest daughter has a fear of dogs and movies with any kind of scary dog was never a good thing for her but I think the silliness of the wolves in the end replaces their initial scariness.
I would recommend this movie for a broad age group of anywhere between 4-12 or even older. I genuinely enjoyed it as an adult and think it would be a great choice for a diverse range of kids ages.
