Have I ever told you how much I love an epilator. It has been a good ten years since I have used an epilator as my sole tool for hair removal. I grew up with a mum who waxed her whole life. I still have such vivid memories of the smell of melting wax on the stove. I even remember her straining it out every now and then through an old stocking to catch the hair that had become a part of the wax. It was apricot in colour and every few weeks she would melt the wax and off she went.
My mum introduced me to waxing which I was grateful for as shaving only makes the problem worse but full removal of hair made the problem better. As I grew up and life got busier waxing became too fussy for me as it took quite a bit of time from start to finish to get everything happening.
I remember being in grade 12 when I first heard about epilators. One of my friends at school showed us her mums during a sleepover and I never looked back. I have used epilators ever since late high school and they have been awesome. My eldest daughter has already started the “hairy legs” conversation with me and although she is not quite at the age to start hair removal I am intentional about her seeing me use the epilator so she sees it as as a good option for when she begins her journey.
The cost of disposable shavers and regular waxing really adds up over time and what I love about the epilator is it is a one off expense. My first epilator I had for nearly 10 years which was fantastic from a cost saving point of view if you were to add up how much 10 years of razors or waxing would cost.
