One Biscuit : Five Ways

1

Ok, this is our family’s go-to basic biscuit recipe. It is fabulous and can be made many different ways and the best bit is, it doesn’t require an egg!
Here are 5 examples.

Biscuit on Plate

Basic Biscuit Ingredients
125g butter
½ cup of sugar
1 tablespoon of milk
1 tablespoon of golden syrup
1½ cups of Self Raising Flour, sifted

Biscuit ingredients

5 Biscuit Options – Choc-Chip, Jam Drops, Sultanas; Peanuts and Freckle Biscuits

Biscuit Options

Step One
Pre-heat your oven to 180C (160C for fan-forced ovens). Line trays with baking paper.
Makes approximately 25 biscuits.

Step Two
Cream the butter and the sugar together.

Step Three
In a separate small container, combine the golden syrup and milk together (as shown below) and then add to the main bowl.

Biscuit golden syrup

Step Four
Add in sifted SR flour and combine.

Step Five
Now, this is when you can decide what type of biscuit you would like to make.  For example, add in the chocolate chips at this point if you want choc-chip biscuits.

If you are making jam drops, roll tablespoon portions out and place on baking try. Make a small indent in the middle of the biscuit and fill with jam.

For the freckle biscuits, I tend to let them cook for approximately 10mins and then I quickly add the freckles to the top of the biscuits pushing them in slightly.

Step Six
Place in the oven and bake for 15 minutes.

These biscuits are great for lunchboxes and super yummy!
