If you’re a regular online shopper, there is an app you need to know about that could save you hundreds. Personally, I do most of my shopping online because hitting the shops with three children is not anybody’s idea of a pleasant day out.
About a year ago, I downloaded an app onto my computer which has saved me a fair bit of money. It’s called Honey, and every time you make an online purchase, it can scan the internet for any current discount codes that can bring your price down.
It’s that simple.
When I get to the checkout page of major retailers (and some surprisingly smaller ones) Honey automatically pops up in my browser and tells me I might be able to save some cash. I click on the button to start scanning, and voila – Honey applies the best available voucher on that day.
Honey isn’t infallible though. I bought some Christmas presents online today, and I knew there was a coupon code I could apply to receive a whopping discount. It had been emailed to me, and it appeared on the online store’s homepage, but still Honey failed to pick it up.
I entered it myself and all was well.
It’s also extremely common to buy something online and for Honey to tell you there are no current codes available. Which is fine – sometimes there are just no codes and you have to pay full price. Outrageous, I know.
So it’s nice to think of Honey as a cool little bonus when it does work. It takes zero effort and it doesn’t require you to sign up for (and read) dozens of different mailing lists just to get the secret codes.
I’d call that a win, wouldn’t you?
