I never appreciated how fabulous Eucalyptus Oil was until I was chatting with a few Mums the other day. Who knew it could do all these wonderful things!
As great as it is though, Eucalyptus Oil is actually poisonous if consumed.
**Safety
Unless it is diluted, eucalyptus oil is highly concentrated and dangerous, even in small doses. A 3.5ml dose of undiluted eucalyptus oil can be fatal, according to MedlinePlus.
Here are 10 ways you can use it in your home:
- Add a capful to your washing to remove any odours and freshen the load. It adds a fragrance to your washing that isn’t too overpowering (unlike a lot on the market at the moment). My friend swears by it for her son’s rugby gear.
- Put a drop on a tissue and place it inside your kid’s pillowcase when they are going to sleep if they are a bit snuffly and congested.
- Eucalyptus Oil is great for cleaning. It has antimicrobial and antiseptic properties. Put a splash in your mop bucket – it is great on timber floors.
- If you have a fireplace, put some drops in a jug of water and place on the fire – it will fill your house with a beautiful fruity aroma.
- Mix some with water in a spray bottle as a multipurpose spray throughout the house.
- Add a drop to a piece of paper towel and placed in the kitchen bin to stop nasty smells.
- A dab on a cottonwool ball helps remove sticky labels (especially good when removing price tags from presents!).
- Add a drop to the filter of your vacuum cleaner and clothes drier to create a beautiful fresh smell through your home.
- A few drops of eucalyptus oil with some olive oil will give your hair a nice moisturizing pick-me-up. Also, eucalyptus can be used as a natural remedy for lice in replacement of chemical treatments.
- Because of its antiseptic properties it is effective at reducing infection and aiding healing of wounds, burns, cuts, sores and scrapes. It is also good to dab on mozzie bites.
Eucalyptus Oil is a super oil for your home and better still, al naturale!
