Lest we forget – the male teachers in our lives and the very important role they play in our Schools. I’m not convinced that the gifts are that different but a few Mums commented on our last post that they felt there was a female slant to the list.
So just in case … here are 12 more gift ideas:
- Potted Plant
Yes, plants are a good idea. They can either take them home or have them in their classroom for the following year. Herbs or succulents might work best for this. If you like, you could add “Thanks for helping me grow…” onto the side of the pot.
- Car Washing Gear
It doesn’t have to be expensive – you could put together a bucket with some car washing liquid, sponge, polish and chamois. - Cook Books
Yes, your modern man likes to cook. Perhaps a Jamie Oliver or Curtis Stone book would be good. - Movie basket
Make up a small movie basket and include things like a DVD, popcorn, maltesers, chips, salted nuts, etc.
- Tray of Mangoes or Stone Fruit
This is a great idea sent in from one of our School Mums. I think he would definitely appreciate a tray full of fresh mangoes or seasonal stone fruit. - Bookshop Voucher
Let him pick his own summer reading! We gave this last year and it was a hit with my son’s teacher. - Starbursts
A jar of starbursts with “You’re a star teacher” on the outside is a fun and inexpensive idea.
- Wine
Always popular – if you can, suss out what type he prefers, red or white. A six pack of beers or ciders are also popular. - Movie Tickets
There is always a host of good movies released on Boxing Day – a movie voucher is the perfect thing for the summer break. - Beach Towel & Sunscreen
Get him ready for Summer with a new beach towel and sunscreen. He is sure to use it over the Summer holidays either at the beach or pool.
- Coffee Voucher
A voucher to the local cafe would be handy. The teacher could stop off on the way to School in the New Year. - Pen
A nice Parker style pen is classic. You could even have it engraved with his name so he is certain not to misplace it in the classroom or staffroom!
Tip: check with your school to see if teachers are able to receive vouchers.
An increasing number of Government Schools are unable to accept vouchers or if they do, they must declare them first.
It is a wonderful time of year where we can show our appreciation to our teachers. The gift does not have to be big. It is just a simple gesture of appreciation.
